Dr. Caren Oquindo graduated from University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) at Marshall B. Ketchum University. After graduating from SCCO, Dr. Oquindo completed a residency in Low Vision and Primary Care at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, Arizona. Following her residency, she joined SCCO as a part-time clinical instructor in the Jarnagin Primary Eye Care Department in the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health. She also worked in a private practice for 2 years where she did a little bit of everything from seeing pediatric to geriatric patients and fitting contact lenses in addition to handling ocular disease cases.
In 2014, she became a full-time assistant professor with clinical and laboratory teaching responsibilities in the Primary Care department. Dr. Oquindo is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association.
