Dr. Wasik is a 1999 graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry and completed her residency in Primary Care Optometry at the San Francisco VA Medical Center in 2000. She was a staff optometrist at the VA San Diego Healthcare System from 2000-2002 and is currently a full-time staff optometrist at the Southern Arizona Veteran’s Affairs Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) in Tucson, Arizona where she serves as the optometry extern coordinator for the Tucson VA Medical Center.
Dr. Wasik is a principal investigator on a multi-center research study and acts as the Optometry VISN 18 Mentor. Previously she has served on the Institutional Review Board at the University of Arizona and on the SAVAHCS Research & Development Committee.
Since February 2008, Dr. Wasik has been a member-at-large on the AFOS Executive Council and currently serves at the secretary/treasurer. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and active in the AAO serving since 2007 as the co-chair of the Education Quality Assurance Committee.
Dr. Wasik lectures on the national, state, and local levels and her interests in the ocular effects of systemic medications, hepatitis C and the use of interferon. Her publications have been in the areas of neovascular glaucoma, cranial nerve palsies and their systemic etiologies, and use of VEG-F inhibitors. She has been a reviewer for Optometry and Optometry and Vision Science and a clinical skills examiner for NBEO.
