Dr. Escobar, a native of Cali, Colombia, earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Universidad Social Catolica de La Salle in Bogota in 1979. In 1981 she completed a one year Contact Lens residency in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Escobar practiced Optometry in Cali at a Government Hospital and later established her private practice in 1990.

After moving to Los Angeles she obtained her California optometry license in 2001. Soon thereafter Dr. Escobar joined Upland Eye Care where she provides comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages; she also practices at the El Monte Comprehensive Health Center (EMCHC), a Los Angeles County/USC clinic. In 2006 Dr. Escobar became a member of the Clinical Faculty at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, a teaching clinic of the Southern California College of Optometry.

Dr. Escobar is a member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association. Fluent in Spanish, she often travels to Latin America as a lecturer and as a trainer to certify health professionals in performing diabetic eye examinations and screenings.

Her hobbies are orchids, running and swimming.
