Dr. Christian Thompson is the current CSU Residency Coordinator. He is a 1998 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Upon graduation, he completed a one year residency in Advanced Ocular Disease at the Faust-Gelvin Eye Center (Indiana University School of Optometry affiliate). Following completion of his residency, Dr. Thompson joined the Chinle Service Unit, where he initially served as a staff optometrist and then as the Chief of the Medical Staff. He currently serves as the Service Unit Chief of Optometry, providing leadership and oversight as the director of all eye care services. In 2007, Dr. Thompson was selected as the IHS Medical Provider of the Year by the IHS National Council of Clinical Directors. He is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry. His emphasis is in hospital based, medical optometry. Dr. Thompson has lectured nationally with a specific focus on emergency eye care and ocular trauma.
