Hello everyone, my name is Gabriel Romero, and I am a second-year PA student here at MBKU! I want to share with you how I got accepted into my dream PA school. I am a first-generation college student, and I learned at a very young age that achieving my dreams requires hard work. Growing up in Pomona, California, a low socioeconomic community, motivated me to further my education to provide for myself and my family. I am naturally competitive, and I eagerly took on this challenge.
When I decided to pursue the PA career, I knew this would be difficult as I did not have family or friends in the medical field to guide me through the process. Navigating through this unfamiliar application process while trying to mold myself into a competitive applicant became an uphill battle for years! However, my drive to become a PA was unwavering and became one of the most rewarding experiences. I quickly learned that making short-term and long-term goals was essential. This became the foundation of my success as it translated into my acceptance at MBKU.

The first step toward success is believing in yourself and your potential. I constantly reminded myself that hard work always pays off! I believe challenging yourself to strive for excellence pushes you to be better.
The second step is dreaming about achieving your goals. I am a firm believer that you must dream something before you can achieve it. During the process, I dreamed about the acceptance phone call into PA school. I dreamed about making the program proud with their decision.
Once your dream has been achieved, the last step is to set another goal. My next goal is to be the best student I can be. Here in PA school, every exam and assessment requires your best. Use your work ethic and dreams to accomplish another goal.
Getting into PA school is not luck, it is earned. Earn your opportunity through relentless hard work, and make your dreams come true.
