We love connecting with prospective students and have a variety of ways to do so in person and virtually. Group events and presentations offer a great opportunity for prospective students at all levels of interest to explore the optometry profession, SCCO's program, MBKU's campus, student life, and more. During the Application Cycle which runs from July 1 through March 15 admissions officers schedule monthly drop in sessions to help candidates who have questions about their application. For the Fall 2024-25 cycle, we will be hosting these drop in sessions from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm PST on the following dates (click the date to join):

We all have those nagging thoughts in the back of our minds that threaten to hold us back from pursuing our dreams. No matter how hard we try or how much we achieve, it just never seems like enough as we compare ourselves to others. Join Admissions Officers and Student Ambassadors as we discuss how to focus on our strengths, stop comparing ourselves to others, and how to handle Imposter Syndrome during the Admissions Process. Admissions Officers share the 6 things SCCO looks for in Competitive Applicants, and Student Ambassadors share things they did to help stand out throughout the admissions process (some of the things they did will surprise you, and hopefully encourage you to think outside the box when applying to grad school!) Join us on select Fridays this year to tour the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University and learn more about our historic Optometry program! In addition to touring our main campus, interested students will also be able to tour the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health and see where our students spend their time in clinic.

Looking for a great place to shadow? We'd love to host you at the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health in Anaheim! Experience clinic life, observe patient care, and chat with current students for a few hours as you shadow 3rd and 4th-year optometric interns and meet faculty. Click here to submit your request.

This event is designed for students who are still exploring health care professions. The event will include:

  • A presentation about our fully integrated model of Interprofessional Education at MBKU
  • Brief Overviews of each Program and Profession at MBKU (Optometry, Pharmacy, and PA)
  • Time to meet Admissions Officers and discuss the application timeline and tips for being a competitive applicant for the 3 programs
  • Hands-on labs led by Faculty and Student Ambassadors
  • Campus Tours

Saturday, February 1, 2025 | 3-6pm PT.

This event was created for students, by students! SCCO's Student Ambassadors created this event to let prospective and admitted students walk in their shoes to get an idea of what it's like to be an optometry student at MBKU. Current students will give presentations to share a "week at a glance" regarding schedules, extra curricular activities, support services, and more. We’ll also have campus tours, hands-on demos, and teach guests some basic service skills you can use during vision screenings! Students already admitted to the incoming class are encouraged to stay after the event for a hosted dinner to get to know classmates and upperclassmen. Click Here for more Information and to RSVP.

The MBKU Admissions Open House is geared toward those who want to learn more about the Optometry, PA and Pharmacy programs at MBKU. The Open House is perfect for anyone exploring professions, pre-health clubs attending as a group, or for individuals who would like to bring a guest or come solo. This event will be held in person and virtually and will include presentations, tours and demos from the admissions team, current students, and faculty.
