Biography

Dr. Boyd brings extensive experience in education to his role as an adjunct faculty member of the MBKU DMSc program, where he will be focused on the PA Education Concentration. He is also an associate professor and the associate director of Clinical Education for the Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies at Gardner-Webb University, where he earlier served as the Associate Program Director and Interim Director of Clinical Education.

Before coming to MBKU he was employed by the College of Health Sciences at the University of Lynchburg, VA where he was the Associate Program Director and Director of Postgraduate Medicine. He was also part of the founding faculty and later the Director of Clinical Education at Presbyterian College, Department of PA Studies. He was PA Faculty Attending and Provider at the Free Clinic of Central Virginia and the Shepherd Free Clinic. He also has experience in orthopedic surgery, where he still works.

After graduating from Presbyterian College with a B.S. in psychology with honors, he went on to earn his Master of Science in Medicine (MSM) from Trevecca Nazzarene University in 2013 before earning his Doctor of Medical Science, concentration in Medical Education and Leadership in 2019. Dr. Boyd is a member of, or has held leadership roles with multiple professional organizations, has several publications in the peer-reviewed literature, and is a peer reviewer for several academic journals. He enjoys cooking, watching sports, playing with his children, and hiking.
