Peer Advise: Good Eats Near Campus

Food

Welcome to the MBKU family! There’s so much for all of you to look forward to in these upcoming years. Today, I wanted to share something that I hold near and dear to my heart, and that’s food! No matter who you are or where you come from, we all need to eat at the end of the day. Many students will opt to bring their own homemade food most days (we’re not made of money, you know!), but it’s always nice to go out and get some good food every once in a while. I’ve compiled a few of my favorite places near campus to get food, for every scenario whether you forgot to bring your own food, or you just want to treat yourself!

Roll & Grill

This was one of my staples throughout my first year. If you’re a sushi or teriyaki bowl enjoyer, this is the place to go. As of the time of writing, a chicken bowl will only run you $6, while on the sushi side, a California roll is only $3.75! Of all the places on this blog, this is my #1 recommendation for you guys to try.

Carrot & Daikon

If you’ve never had bánh mì before, this is the perfect place to try. A newly opened restaurant that is just a short drive from campus, this newcomer serves one of the best crispy pork belly bánh mì’s in all of Orange County. Definitely try that first before exploring the rest of their menu which includes tons of other bánh mì options, as well as phở.

CAVA

A restaurant that is very reminiscent of Chipotle, but with a Mediterranean flair, CAVA has become a favorite among many students at MBKU. Although it isn’t the cheapest on this list, it is still a great option if you want something on the healthier side.

Wadaya

Wrapping it up with more of a “niche” pick, Wadaya is a sit down restaurant that offers a trendy Japanese dish: mazesoba. If you’ve never had it before, think of it as a more saucy Japanese noodle dish. Very close to campus, and very delicious. Just be careful of getting sauce on your clothes!

Honorable Mention: Fast Food Deals

Let’s be real, we’re all broke students that are trying to get the most bang for your buck. There are so many fast food places near campus, and there’s always a deal to take advantage of somewhere. Be on the lookout for big discounts, whether it be on the app or in store!

Again, welcome to the MBKU family! If you try any of these restaurants and see me around campus, please feel free to let me know your thoughts
