This event was an excellent opportunity for #PharmD students to connect with leading pharmacy organizations, such as Kaiser Permanente, Rite Aid, Walgreen, CVS and many more, about employment and rotations. #APhM2019

#StoriesBehindMBKU - Danica Quicho, SCCO, ’20, took a circuitous route to her studies at SCCO. After moving to California upon graduating from the University of Washington, she worked at East West Eye Institute. She went on to earn a master’s degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona. At SCCO, Danica became the immediate past Trustee for the AOSA and feels fortunate to work with so many mentors.

#StoriesBehindMBKU - Steven Saba, SCCO, ’20, has served as vice president of his class for his first and second years at SCCO and says he received a great feeling of acceptance and professionalism when he visited open houses and student days at the campus. Steven also fondly shares about his service trips abroad and how they have allowed him to witness some unusual vision cases and to see the huge impact quality optometry care can have on a person’s life.

#StoriesBehindMBKU - Bonnie Samuelson, SCCO, ’20, was raised in a family where basketball was an important part of life, both her parents played ball professionally. Bonnie would go on to play basketball all four years at Stanford University as an undergraduate, where she specialized in three-pointers. During this time, she also shadowed various medical practitioners and was drawn to optometry after watching an optometrist interact with his patients.

#StoriesBehindMBKU – Marisol Lauri, SCCO '21, knew how important CPR training was, but she never thought she would have to use this life-saving knowledge so soon. After administering CPR to her neighbor's toddler and reviving him, she mentions, "I’m grateful because I think it’s so important as health care professionals to have these kinds of basic skills so you can help any situation in the best way you can.” Read more about Marisol's story at ketchum.edu/news

Earlier last month, SPAS '19 students Ashley DeYoung, Tara Anderson, Lauren Kerstner and Julia Lee presented their Masters Capstone on a transformative topic, "Increasing awareness and access to #Naloxone through overdose response training and community education at a drug #rehabilitation facility." Tara Anderson shared, "I'm so extremely proud of my group and our efforts to help prevent death by opioid overdose, while also educating and empowering the community."
