Last Friday, our 3rd-year pharmacy students (Class of 2021) volunteered at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System - Veteran Stand Down! They helped served breakfast and lunch while engaging with #Veterans to learn about their stories. This was one of the most eye-opening experiences for our students and they plan on returning next year to serve the VA community. #MBKUAmbassador #MBKUCommunity

"Last weekend, SCCOAOSA hosted the Western Regional Conference that united optometry students from SCCO, Western University, UC Berkeley, and Pacific University. The conference helped the students meet each other as well as members of both the American and California Optometric Associations. The day was filled with fun, educational, and interactive activities that allowed OD students to learn more about the legislative aspect of their profession, how they can be more proactive in their communities, and what it means to be a doctor of optometry in this modern age.

"Attending the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) Seminar was the highlight of my weekend! I was able to attend multiple Continuing Education (CE) sessions, network with other pharmacy students in California, volunteer, and compete in Quiz Bowl with my amazing colleagues. It was great to see Dean Fisher and faculty at Seminar as well— we felt their support, pride, and advocacy for MBKU students throughout Seminar and at the MBKU reception. Continuing #PharmacyWeek with another student highlight with #StoriesBehindMBKU - Andrew Kaewtavorn, COP, ’20, loves the collaborative potential of pharmacy practice and aims to work in a hospital setting after graduation to serve with medical practitioners across disciplines. Andrew says he was an introverted kid, but opened up some in high school, and became much more “talkative and vocal” while working as a pharmacy technician while in college.

Her passion for pharmacy is rooted in witnessing her aunt deliver care in a dire environment.
