It's already been a month since our commencement celebrations for the Class of 2020 and today, we're just as proud of their achievements and resilience, such with SCCO's Dr. Alazigha Owei, who shares this about their journey, "It took being delayed by a year, successfully passing 3 Board examinations, a state law exam, 4 clinical rotations, and endless studying, sacrifices, and tears to get to where I am today. Optometry school was no easy feat for me and anyone who has been on this journey with me knows that. There were times when I wanted to give up. Times when I felt I was not capable.

After a 3-month quarantine, we were finally able to come back to Fullerton to do boot camps for Primary Care, Contact Lens and Vision Therapy clinics. These past 5 weeks have been mostly online lectures/labs ? and a few in-person skills trainings. This isn’t the most ideal way to learn for such a hands-on profession, but it’s worked well for what we can do ?

The PA Class of 2021 is currently in their emergency medicine module. They had the opportunity to come on campus in small groups to practice how to do incision and drainage on fake abscesses. They did their best impressions of Dr. Pimple Popper ??? One student, Vanessa Janovick (@vanessa_pa_s), expressed, "As an ER Tech, I used to set up countless I & D trays for the PAs. It was surreal to finally be able to learn how to perform them! Although this is skills practice, I enjoyed every second of it!"
