Meet the College of Pharmacy Class of 2021 President: "Dave here. I’m President of the Fourth-Year Pharmacy Class. If you don’t know, my life before pharmacy school included freelance writing, training in education, and pharmacy tech-ing. I grew up in Texas and have a degree in English from UT. I lived in CA for about 10 years, including all my wonderful hours spent in front of a projector screen in the HPB.

On Monday, the College of Pharmacy kicked off fall quarter classes and rotations with their drive-thru pickup for equipment and PPE. Some members from the Class of 2022 came to help out, greet their peers (and pups) and cheer everyone on for a great first day of classes!

My name is Van Cathy Pham, but I go by Cathy. I am a third year pharmacy student. Born and raised in San Diego, I love cycling, hiking, food, and more food with drinks. Currently I am the sitting president for the California and the American Pharmacists Associations and the social co-chair of Orange County Pharmacists Association.

My name is Laura Bertsch and I am currently a first-year physician assistant student. I was born and raised in Orange County and outside of school, I am a native foodie and love to try new foods, coffee shops, and boba spots. I also love to explore the outdoors as well as practice the sport of Olympic Weightlifting.

It's already been a month since our commencement celebrations for the Class of 2020 and today, we're just as proud of their achievements and resilience, such with SCCO's Dr. Alazigha Owei, who shares this about their journey, "It took being delayed by a year, successfully passing 3 Board examinations, a state law exam, 4 clinical rotations, and endless studying, sacrifices, and tears to get to where I am today. Optometry school was no easy feat for me and anyone who has been on this journey with me knows that. There were times when I wanted to give up. Times when I felt I was not capable.

This warm weather has many of us enjoying nature! Check out Dr. van de Pol's quaran-tivity, “We have released 82 butterflies so far. In the spirit of research, we kept track of M vs F releases: 50 F (61%) and 32 M (39%)!”
